Review: Colwall Park Hotel, Malvern

While on my country house tour of the UK, I checked out Colwall Park Hotel. Nestled in a rural village on the sunny western flanks of the breathtaking Malvern Hills, I was delighted to discover such a beautiful country house with so much charm and character.

First impressions: As I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome by the hotel reception staff. I spotted a welly rack and welly wash outside, which gave me a warm and cosy feeling that I was in the country. After checking in, I was lead upstairs by the reception staff and shown my room for the evening.

Bedrooms: The bedrooms at The Colwall Park Hotel are large inside, with dark wood soft furnishings and shower rooms featuring The White Company products. My room had a view of the local post office and was located next to an upstairs communal lounge, offering complimentary tea and coffee throughout the day, as well as an extensive book library, for a bit of bedtime reading.

Restaurants: There are two restaurants at The Colwall Park Hotel, the main dining room and a country pub restaurant. I dined in the main dining room and am still salivating over the beautifully put together menu! I started with Scallop & prawn roulade, dehydrated scallop roe, watercress puree then moved onto the Smoked cheek, loin, pig head fritter, pig blood croquette, burnt apple puree, charred leeks for my main, finished off with the Honey cake, Lemon curd mousse, fennel granite, honeycomb, set yogurt for dessert. I wasn’t surprised when I discovered the restaurant was award-winning and I have to say the service was absolutely remarkable.
