Review: The Manor Country House Hotel, Oxfordshire

Earlier this week, I was lucky enough to be invited to review The Manor Country House Hotel at Weston-on-the-green, Oxfordshire.

I already knew from Trip Advisor reviews this place was going to be something special, so was excited to discover it for myself.

First impressions: On arrival at The Manor I was greeted by a row of trees revealing a beautiful, subtly lit late 15th century/early 16th-century manor house.  On walking into the grand reception area I was taken in by the smell of the burning log fire and instantly felt cosy by the historic surroundings.

Bedrooms: I stayed in a junior suite, of which was furnished with antique side tables, china lamps, a dresser, velvet sofas and large wardrobes. The walls were adorned with artwork complimenting the manor’s woodland surroundings. The bathroom was large, offering both a bath and walk-in shower accompanied by The White Company toiletries.

Restaurants: The Manor has two restaurants, the main restaurant serving a la carte and cosy bar restaurant, serving classic British dishes including venison sausages and mash and fish cakes. Breakfast, of which guests can enjoy full English or continental, is served in the main restaurant – a room with a view of the perfectly kept gardens (kudos to the Gardner who shaped the hedges into animal shapes!).

Location: You couldn’t ask for a better location, remote yet a ten-minute drive to Bicester Village (of which, I’d highly recommend Soho House’s latest restaurant/cafe offering, The Farmshop – great fish and chips!). The Manor is the kind of place you’d need to drive to, but there is heaps of free customer parking out front.

Price: From £110 per night, inc. breakfast and free wifi.

Traveller tip: It’s completely dog-friendly, so don’t leave your pooch at home!
